Chinese Herbal Medicine

In Chinese medicine, there are a multitude of formulas for everything from pain and emotional imbalances, to internal organ conditions and exhaustion. Many formulas are hundreds or even thousands of years old, and there is one for pretty much every version of every common condition that you can think of. Some of the things I prescribe herbs for include seasonal allergies, migraines, anxiety, insomnia, respiratory infections, digestive disorders, liver and gall bladder issues, pain, menstrual irregularities, stress, infertility, and urinary conditions. Chinese herbal formulas are generally mild and well-balanced so they can help address your symptoms with little to no side effects. Many formulas are also restorative, nourishing tissues, rebuilding energy reserves, and replenishing vital fluids like blood. If you have the type of condition that would benefit from Chinese herbs or any of the other complementary treatments that I offer, I will include them with your acupuncture session at no extra charge.

I Carry The Highest Quality Chinese Herbs You Can Find

I carry Active Herb's line of traditional Chinese medicine formulas, Guan Ci Tang. This line is high quality, affordable, and very effective. They are one of the oldest and most respected Chinese herbal companies in America, in production since 1995. Their tablets are a 5:1 concentration, double that of other brands, and they carry over 140 classic formulas.

Active Herb's Tablets are Tested for Contaminants

Active Herb's formulas are produced according to the FDA's stringent international guidelines for the manufacturing of herbs, requiring testing and documentation at every level of production. Their factory is CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Processes) certified by the FDA, ensuring quality control in the methods, facilities, and controls used in the manufacturing, processing, and packing of their products. Every batch of their herbs is tested for things like heavy metals and microbes, and they are guaranteed free of pharmaceuticals, sugars, and dyes.

Chinese Herbs are Usually Only Taken for a Short Period of Time

It is very rare to take herbs long-term and they are never taken indefinitely like prescription medications. The ultimate goal of these formulations is to try and correct the underlying cause of your condition, not just manage your outward symptoms. Because of this, they are usually taken more intensively, typically three times per day, but only for a limited amount of time, say weeks or maybe months. This approach aims to give symptomatic relief while improving your baseline health overall so that your symptoms are less likely to re-occur in the future.

Active Herb's Tablets are Extracted Naturally with Water

To make their tablets Active Herb first cooks their herbs in water. Referred to officially as decoctions, these concentrated formulations are made like a soup, with the herbs steeped in water that is gradually simmered down and reduced over time. The resulting paste concentrate is then made into tablets. Five tiny tablets equal one cup of herbal tea. These small tablets are pre-formulated, convenient, and very easy to digest. There are absolutely no alcohols or chemical solvents used in this type of extraction process.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is Time-Tested

Most classical Chinese herbal formulas have been in use for hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of years. These formulas are called "patents," officially regulated by the Chinese government to be standardized not just by ingredients but by the proportion of ingredients as well. Because Chinese medicine is so old, there is at least one formula for pretty much every version of every common medical condition that you can think of. They are truly time-tested and very effective with little to no side effects.

Some Conditions Respond Quickly to Herbs While Others Take a Little Longer

Because herbs can take a day or two to build up to a therapeutic level in your system, their full effect is usually not instantaneous. The course of treatment varies for herbs according to many factors, especially how long you have had the condition. Acute conditions like colds and allergies usually clear up in a couple of days while more chronic conditions that have been present for years may take a few weeks or months to improve.
"This was my first experience for acupuncture and Ms. Hyton put me completely at ease and took the time to give me a personalized experience and care plan. She was so willing to work with me and my situation and gave me hope that I haven’t felt in a long time. I already felt more positive energy within one session and can’t wait to go back. Easy to park, great location, comfortable environment and Ms. Hyton is extremely knowledgeable and personable. Thank you so much!" ~Aimee P.
